Is Life a Dream?
If films and novels borrow from lives, how much sense does it make to describe someone’s life as “like a film” or “like a novel”?
Suppose the entire film industry and every novelist alive got together. Could a single film or a single book carry every moment of one person’s life, second by second, to a viewer or a reader?
Are the lives being lived quietly flattened by that comparison, without anyone noticing?
Or is it the spell of life and everything in it?
Films, series, songs, folk tunes — and a whole life slipping through the fingers, second by second.
Like a dream.
Maybe this life is another life’s dream.
Who knows?
